40 Years of ExcellenceOur commitment to clients and employees alike has made MCS successful—in fact, we have been under contract with some of our customers for more than 35 years!

From humble beginnings

Gerald Rogers resigned as General Operations Manager for Oriole Janitorial and one week later, on July 1, 1970, he and his wife, Margaret Rogers, launched My Cleaning Service, Inc. in the basement of their Baltimore row home.

The Rogers recruited retired accountants and friends from the industry as part- time employees to help with payroll, finances and communications. Many of their first employees were loyal followers from the previous company. Even a friendly competitor helped the Rogers by lending them equipment, saying he would not accept payment for the items until MCS turned a profit, and even then he didn’t ask for a specific amount. It was truly a group effort to get My Cleaning Service up and running, but with the help of the local Baltimore business community, the Rogers laid the foundation on which MCS successfully operates today.

A second generation

In 1993, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers sold MCS to their daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Danny Bands. Lisa followed in her father’s footsteps, exhibiting the entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to customer service that made the Rogers successful. In the years since she took over, Lisa has received many awards that attest to the company’s success. She is well known throughout the Baltimore business community, and still remains active in MCS operations. She believes the secret to our success is the high quality people we employ. A big part of her management style includes regular recognition of employees for their strong, quality performances. Carrying on in her parents’ footsteps, Lisa is proud that she helped build a company that cares for its employees including ensuring secure employment for them even in these turbulent times.

A brighter future

We are constantly looking for new ways to better support our clients. For example, many years ago we became a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week operation to better support our clients. Our newest initiative, MYGREEN, continues in that tradition of improved service. Although being environmentally conscious is trendy right now, we honestly accept our duty to help preserve the planet. At the same time, we see the green movement as an opportunity to improve the quality of the air our customers breathe—an equally noble cause. That is why My Cleaning Service, Inc. is providing green cleaning and supporting customer efforts to win sustainable building awards.

We look forward to providing the Baltimore community with the highest quality of service over the next 40 years, and we appreciate the support from our clients and colleagues.
